Our Little Camper is 3!

We celebrated Blake's 3rd Birthday on July 4th with family at our "new campsite!" Blake loves to camp and had been asking for a camping party for months. Since it is July and 100 degrees we did not camp, but set the tent up in the backyard for the kiddos to play in:)

Blake wants to be just like Mike and my Dad! He had seen a "kid-version" of a blower and weed-eater at Walmart and had been asking for them ever since. He loves to work in the yard and leaves his yard tools right next to Daddy's tools!

He tried to use his blower to blow out his candles:)

I can't believe he is 3! He is such a sweet boy and I love him sooooo much!

Luke's Garden Party

One month ago my sweet friends hosted a baby shower in honor of Baby Luke and I! Adriane, Kate and Hannah are so creative and I loved the garden party theme!

The food was so yummy...Margarita cupcakes, Chocolate Cake Balls and Fruit Kabobs:) I especially loved the Blessing Tree where my friends wrote sweet blessing and words of encouragement for our family!

The flower arrangements were Beautiful...Daisies in vases of limes!

The shower was perfect and such a blessing to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Luke with my girlfriends!

Is my excuse for not blogging:( So now that I am at the end of my pregnancy and resting more I thought I would do a few posts to update you on our crazy life! We closed on the sale of our very first home Memorial weekend and...

moved in with my parents while we waited to close on the new house and do some remodeling/painting. (Blake loved living with his Grammy and Grampy)

One week later we purchased our new home and Mike immediately began the remodel.

He has been amazing and literally painted everything that could possibly be painted! And 40 gallons later it is just like a new home:)

We have been working non-stop and I will very soon post before and after pics of the house!

First Family Campout

A few weekends ago we went camping for the first time as a family at Tyler State Park. Blake loves the outdoors where he can totally be a boy!

Recently Mike bought a new tent...and I have to admit I really like it! It is enormous and has two rooms...one for our stuff and one to sleep in!

My parents were such great troopers! My dad is not a fan of camping (or especially being cold...I guess that is who I get it from) but he will do anything for his grandson:)
One thing I also really love about camping is that Mike does ALL the cooking! It sure was yummy!
This park really is BEAUTIFUL and a great place to go for a hike!

I think having two boys in our family there will be lots of camping in our future! I am learning to love it and would not miss this fun opportunity with the two guys I adore:)

Fun Weekend

This weekend was full of family fun!

On Saturday we took Blake to see his first movie in the theatre...BOLT...which he enjoyed, but I felt sorry for the people that sat next to us...he had a hard time staying seated:)

On Sunday we took our little man 4-wheeling! This is by-far his favorite thing to do! My dad works for a man that loves ATVs and he is very generous and lets us use them! Everyday Blake wakes up and says..."I want to call Grampy to go 4-wheeling."

So Grampy made Blake's wish come true again and all 6 of us (Grammy, Grampy, E, Me, Mike and Blake) went on a ride through the woods!

He is a little dare devil and always wants Mike to go faster and does not like for Daddy to hold onto him. I am in for it...he is ALL boy!

Cookie Exchange

Hannah and I hosted our annual Christmas party last week at my house! This year we did a cookie exchange and had a great time tasting everyones yummy treats and visiting with old and new friends from church:) So here are a few pics...we had a blast!

Holiday Decorating

Several of you have asked to see pictures of my first (paid) decorating job! So here you go. I was asked to do the Holiday decorating for this business thru a referral from a friend! Thanks Amanda:) The owner celebrates Hanukkah and so I tried to give the office a festive look without looking too Christmasy. So I used the greenery that they had and spruced it up a bit with ribbon and bows! And this is how it turned out...

Halloween Fun

Halloween this year with Blake was sooo fun! We started the day off by going to a party that morning at a friends house and ended the day with a second party at another friends home:) Lots of fun, fellowship and great memories! Blake got into the whole trick or treating thing and would say "Na" when it was his turn for some candy! True to character:) Here are some photos of our little pony and his friends!

Fall Decor-Part 2

This year I did something totally different in my entry way then I normally do and am pretty pleased with the outcome! I put some fall foliage in my very versatile apothecary jars and a few pumpkins on a leaf platter! I had that wood carved wall hanging in a closet and thought it would fill in the space below the painting nicely! However, something was not right:( The painting reminded me to much of Spring, but I needed something on that wall. Soooo...

I was at Target and found this wreath on clearance and brought it home! I wanted to use the frame to make the wreath pop, but could not get the painting out:( So I found some construction paper that matched our wall color and taped it over the painting and Ta-Da! Problem solved! Unless you look very, very closely you cannot tell that there is a painting in the frame and I think that the wreath completes the look!

Here is a close up of what I used to fill up my jars...leaves, acorns, pine cones, and a few small faux pumpkins!

Fall Decor-Part 1

I love decorating for FALL! I love the warm colors and the natural beauty that it brings! This year I was a little late putting out my decor b/c we have been so busy and out of town...however better late than never! So here are a few of things I added to make our home feel more like Fall, since the weather does not always cooperate:)

I like to tie raffia bows on a few of the pumpkins to jazz them up a bit!

My Aunt Sherie gave me these turkey parts a few years ago and this year I put him on the front porch to greet our guests:)

I have reused this wheat for many years now and love the dramatic effect it gives the mantel!
This year I added leaves to the bottom of the vases!

I like to do something different on our table each year...this year I found this fun plate at Walmart and added a little garland and a white pumpkin and Ta-Da! Love the little acorn salt and pepper shakers...where else but Target:) I found that place mat for Blake at Pottery Barn Kids...he has enjoyed learning about Fall and Thanksgiving by asking about the pics while eating!

More pumpkins...you can use them in so many ways!

Texas State Fair

Mike's parents "Nana and Papa" invited us to go the the Texas State Fair a few weekends ago and we had lots of fun...with every single person that lives in the DFW area! It was veryyy crowed. However, Mike and I used to go when we were dating, so it was fun to experience it with Blake.

Celebrity Spotted

We were walking into North Park Mall in Dallas the other day and we walked by an SUV surrounded by men in suites...I did not think a whole lot of it and then out the car steps Jessica Simpson! This does not happen in East Texas so I thought it was worthy of posting about. HaHa.

She is just as cute as she is in the magazines and was all dolled up to promote her new perfume line at Dillards.

Road Trip

Hello! Remember me? I have been a horrible blogger:( But I am back and for the one or two of you that may still check this from time to time here is a long picture post of our trip to the East Coast! We headed off for our 2400 mile round trip vacation the beginning of October and our first stop was Atlanta, Georgia.

Blake cozy with his blankie, binky and Elmo DVD! We could not of made it without those three items plus his new favorite obsessions...his Backhoe, Bulldozer and Big Truck (Dump Truck)!

We had a yummy dinner at out favorite restaurant in downtown Atlanta!

Then the next day before leaving Atlanta, my sweet hubby took me to Ballard! It was fun to see the beautiful stuff in person, not just in the catalog:)

On our way out we drove thru some amazing neighborhoods with beautiful, southern homes! One of my favorites!
Next stop Myrtle Beach, South Carolina...

We were there for about 5 days and had a great time just the three of us!
The weather was perfect for playing in the sand, but a little chilly for swimming!

The resort we stayed at had an indoor water park...which Blake loved:)

We ate at some fun restaurants!

And spent more time enjoying the beach.

Our last day we went to the Aquarium and saw some amazing fish! God sure is creative:)

They had a pirate exhibit and I meet a few of the shipmates!

I held some type of crab! Aren't you proud?

Then we ate at the Hard Rock Cafe...

Walked around Broadway at the Beach...

Rode a Carousal...

And had some yummy ice cream:)

Then off to pick my parents up at the airport in Wilmington and head to our final destination...Topsail Island, NC!

The weather the rest of our trip was cool and rainy, but that did not stop Mike from getting in some surfing!

And walks on the beach!

The reason we planned this trip was to go to my cousin, Stephan's wedding and see my moms side of the family that lives in Minnesota and Nebraska. It had been over 6-7 years since I had seen my cousins and it was so great to catch up and spend a few days together! (The bride is from North Carolina so that is why we all met there for the big day!)

It was raining the day of the wedding so the beach wedding was moved inside, but it was still beautiful and it all worked out!

I have been helping my friend, Heather decorate her house and I thought it would be fun to have a large arrangement on her sofa table separating her formal living and family room! So this is what I made! I think it turned out great and we used just about two of every stem so that it would look pretty on all sides. We used lots of feathers, "real" looking ferns, twigs, and small red stems for color! All from Hobby Lobby, 1/2 off! If it looks familiar then you have probably seen the one at Chatting at the Sky that the Nester made...she is brilliant and full of great ideas...that I love to steal:) I hope this passes the fake arrangement test and makes me a proud member of the P.O.O.P.I.E. club!

I Heart Plates

I have always wanted to hang plates above my bed, but had never seen a picture for inspiration to confirm my idea. Until, I discovered The Nester and feel in love with the look!

Since my walls are blue and my bedding has color I decided to go with all white plates! I love them and they really pop against the blue walls!
My husband likes to say that if he gets hungry in the middle of the night he will just reach up and grab a plate to eat off of. Not exactly what I had in mind:)

Last week Blake stopped napping 2-4 hours and only napped ONE hour:( So on the third day of this new trend I decided to leave him in is crib a little longer...oh about an hour. So when I was ready to get him out I opened his door to see this!

Running around in his crib NAKED!!! He had taken off all of his clothes & diaper and thrown out his blankie, pillow and stuffed animals:(
Lucky the diaper did not have a yucky surprise in it and he did not use his crib as a potty! Until the other day when he did this again...for his daddy:)

This week he is back to his regular nap times sooo all is well at our house!

DRESSED AT LAST!

My Windows in my Living Room and Kitchen are Finally Dressed! We have lived in our house for SIX years and I finally have treatments on all my windows! This past week my very talented mother sewed the panels for my living room. She began sewing in the 7th grade and does amazing work.

Below is the picture of our Living Room BEFORE treatments:

They totally complete the room and add such warmth!

I chose a coordinating Fleur-de-lis fabric for the top 2/3 of the panel and the blue stripe for the bottom 1/3 - which is the same fabric as the pillows on my couch!
I found this simple, yet fun trim at my favorite fabric store - Bufe and Babin - (where I purchased the fabric) and it was only $1/yard! It ties the two fabrics together perfectly! I did contribute to the making of the panels by gluing the trim on with this amazing fabric glue! I think I could "sew" using just the glue...it bonds great!
"We" also made this cute little valance for the window above my sink in the kitchen! It did not turn out exactly like I intended, but I love the finished product and it is FINISHED!

Love this trim...I splurged on this several years ago:)
The window below has been dressed for several years and now finally the other one is too! They add so much character and color to the kitchen!!
It is amazing how much window treatments can transform a room and really make your house a HOME! Thank you MOM sooo much for helping me bring my design ideas to life! You are truely appreciated!

I have been busy on a few other projects so stay tuned...more to come later!

The phone rings and Blake and I race to see who gets to answer first..."HELLO" he says begging to talk to whoever is on the other line. He thinks he is hot stuff (and I guess I do too!).

Date Night

This past Friday night Mike and I hit the town for some date night fun! We ate at Villa Montez- the location that Mike had proposed 6 1/2 years prior (when it was The Mansion on the Hill). It brought back fun memories and the food was amazing:) After dinner we drove around looking at houses and then went to TARGET (a man after my heart)!!! Then to see the Dark Knight :( Okay, I am glad that I went to see this with him b/c he loved it and we normally go to see "chick flicks" that I want to, but this movie was disturbing. I cannot get the jokers scary face out of my mind. Ahhh. Anyway, we had a great time just the two of us...much thanks to Grammy and Grampy!

Two weekends ago we went to the East Texas Ballon Race in Longview with our friends-

the Boyers!

It was the first time the boys had ever seen hot-air ballons and been that close to an airplane as it headed to the runway!
There were sky-divers and an air-show!
We has lots of fun and made great memories with our boys!

I do not have a good picture because it was dark- but that evening they inflated all the ballons and with the flames had a very cool light show!

Sod, Sweat and Saturdays....With Daddy

This past Saturday Mike laid some sod in our backyard...Blake was there to help! He insisted that Daddy put "more" sod in the dump truck and put him to work. He worked up quite a sweat and enjoyed every minute of being-Daddy's Little Helper!

We had Blake's Birthday Party on Sunday and it was a Blast! The invitations went out the end of June and the planning began! I really enjoy party planning so I have been able to let my creativity flow with his parties. (I guess it is a little bit of an outlet for me).

Our sweet little boy is 2! Time has gone by sooo fast. It seems like yesterday that we were holding our little 6 lb bundle in our arms. Now we are busier than ever chasing him! He is our little explorer and loves to keep us on our toes. He is so fun and is learning new words daily! Today his new thing is to run his Tonka truck into the furniture and then follow it up by saying "sorry." I guess he thinks that makes it okay? He truly is a blessing and I am so lucky to be able to stay at home with him and experience every moment of his life.

He is Mr. Personality and can be quite funny! In this picture he saw me laying out and thought he too would soak up some sun! What a STUD!

Summer Vacation

~Beautiful Colorado~

This state is an amazing place to enjoy God's magnificent handiwork and creativity! We left on Sunday and arrived in Estes Park, CO Monday late afternoon. I cannot express enough how great Blake did in the car, much thanks to entertainment from Grammy and Auntie E (Grampy was a huge help on the way home too). We could not have traveled with such ease without them! On our way we picked up Ryan and my dad (Grampy) at the Denver airport. They had been vacationing in Costa Rica the week before and I have to say I was a little jealous of their time at the beach. I have been a beach girl since birth and love it, but I am grateful for my husband who stretches me and takes me on new adventures, like the mountains. This was our third time since we have been married to go to Estes Park and it was great to share that with our little man! In the past we have stayed in a pop-up camper at Rocky Mountain National Park and this year we all stayed in a very nice and comfy home near the river. That is my kind of camping! We went with my family and my aunt and uncle, Neil and Sherie, and their kids, Kyle, Stacey and her boyfriend Ryan. We are sooo blessed to have them in our lives and enjoy every minute we spend with them!

Yes, that is a trailer and car top carrier! One of my strong points is definitely NOT packing light, I bring everything:) But, we were prepared for all sorts of weather and activities!

Our Home Away from Home!

As we pulled into Rocky Mountain National Park there was a double rainbow over the mountains! Breath-taking!!
Blake setting up his first campsite and building a fire! In addition to the house we also had a campsite at RMNP for those of us that wanted to enjoy sleeping the outdoors! I did brave it one night and Mike and I camped in the tent! I have to say it was not bad and I slept like a baby (maybe b/c we were alone and Blake was at the house?)
He loved jumping on the air mattress! Yep pee!
Our first day we hiked from Bear Lake to several other lakes on the Mountain for a

total of 6 miles!

On our second day we traveled up Trail Ridge Road that is a windy, narrow road up the mountain to 12,000 ft above sea level. This drive always makes me very nervous b/c of the steep cliffs on the side road and this day the weather got very cold and snowy.
Down to 38 degrees to be exact! The weather was in the 70s at the bottom of the mountain!
A big change for only traveling a few miles up!

It made hiking a breeze and Blake learned to love it!
On our third day the guys went on a 8 mile hike and the girls went into town to shop:)

"Angel Baby"
However he had his moments were I would maybe refer to him as our

"Monster Baby"

But, all in all considering that he was not on his routine and had very short naps he was an "Angel Baby"

Blake's two favorite people the whole trip: Ne-il and Sta-tcy. He loves them and still says their names daily! Every time he was with them (which was the entire trip) he would say

"Hi Stacey, Hi Neil" So Cute!! We wore him out with a total of 15 miles hiking on our trip! He napped in the carrier, sooo adaptable!

On our fourth and final day we hiked to Dream and Emerald Lake! There was a lot of snow on the trails, which we were not expecting but was a fun surprise for a June vacation!
That afternoon Mike, Blake and I went into town again to spent time together, just the three of us!

Estes Park is such a cute town! This shop below is probably the most fun and unique boutique I have ever been in! It was like an art museum of home decor!
That evening we ate at this yummy, Italian restaurant on the river called Mama Rosa's. It was a great end to a fun vacation! So we headed back to Texas on day five and drove allll the way through - a straight 19 hours!
